Post The way of Miyamoto
"Some would argue 1995 was a tad early to announce a sequel to the game that's coming out in 1996, along with not actually telling the developer about it, but eh... it's the way of Miyamoto. He's a great man."

In case you want to know what that's from:

Didn't know there was a beta to this game. I'll check it out.

Thanks for the opening to another stupid adventure!

All games have betas, but he isn't really talking about a beta that was made available to the public beyond possibly playable betas in settings like E3 or other conventions.

Post Re: The way of Miyamoto
I betaed super mario 64, it originally allowed you to wall jump up the castle in the right corner where you would find a doorway on the back of the main spire of the castle that leads to a less wide version of the spiral staircase further inside the castle, it was a never ending spiral staircase, however there was a secret where if you ran backwards and then forwards you could get to the top where you'd meet yoshi and be able to play as luigi (which at that point bugged the game causing nothing to work right and scenery glitches).

Miyamoto is great at creating concepts but not at continuing them. he even admits his continuations usually go downhill even in his own perspective and become lackluster. this is why he would rather leave his creations to a team of other people and widely ignore it till he can see what it needs when that team f's up.

Yokoi, Gumpei (Gunpei) Yokoi, was the real genius of nintendo, he made the system designs and game which would test them to their max capability. he was no stranger to making sure the games were perfect too (he was a perfectionist), he would often demand that the game not be released until everything that was logical to make it graphically and contextually fantasy fulfilling was put in.

a little known fact, Yokoi frequently butted in to other developer's doings and told them of hardware screts they could utilize to make thier games more awesome. not only that he game them non-technical advice as well, even advising miyamoto on story graphics and gameplay aspects of LOZ and Super Mario Bros. to name a few.

he was obsessed with the startrek holodeck and all VR technology, he invented the Virtual Boy, which was only limited by the hardware specs available at the time, it was nintendo's first truely 3D system, but it did utilize raster graphics instead of vector graphics for characters. in fact his headset VR technology has lead to other copycat technologies today such as the Oculus rift and those iphone/cellphone VR headsets. if Yokoi were alive today he'd be suing the F out of their asses, and we'd never have had the lame duck game era (which is still continuing to some extent)
