Upon closer inspection, it was one of those notification offer things. I don't even remember what it said, but it was very objective and highly designed to try and make me do things I didn't want to.

Good advertisment works on subconcious level using special techniques working on imagination, to change ones pattterns of thinking and perspective over things they describe.

Like in TV Shopping, they continuously repeat some slogans like "you must have it" or explain logicaly why "you need it", thinking under pressure, "it's a special offer that lasts only few days more". Forcing things on mind is pretty easy when using some good old manipualation. Whenever i think about it, my favorite example is sexy girls presenting new crappy or expensive cars on expos, or showing happy famillies eating some motherfuckin cerials so your subconciousness will make a connection between those two things.
I also like those sellers (most of the time selling perfumes or kitchen assortiment) that first give you something "for free" and they use that moment of your happines (because you've received present, and who doesn't like it!?), when you're most vourneable for sugestions to also buy something for small price or you will lose it (and since your mind tells you that losing possesion you were so happy about to receive is a bad thing, you're "forced" to pay for it).

I love how human mind works, thousands of years but still Carrot and Stick Approach is the simplest and best one.
