Guerrilla Art, Culture Jamming, Subvertising, Détournement
Before we go on, brandalism is basically 'brand' and 'vandalism' as an anti-advertising movement. It uses vandalism in order to subvertise. Brandalism is not always considered safe.
Guerrilla Art, Culture Jamming, Subvertising, Détournement.
These are the now lessor media mediums way before 4chan and whatever internet congregating happened back in the 90s. That's when people can go woke or smart aleck about things. I make this topic in order to find out how things are faring, considering that there's a whole George Floyd protest movement, dissents, controversies, and things like that going on.
I would go in a academic essay, but these (anarchistic/protest) movements are action oriented, not book oriented.
Let's check the pics.
"Buy Shit!" by Sr. X, a street artist from Spain, painted on a billboard @ The Village Underground in Shoreditch

English: 2 images of the same billboard published by ready.gov designed to promote home safety, one has been vandalized and is an example of subvertising (subversive vandalism of advertising).

Now, those examples are more (politically) thought provoking. The basis of the topic is to find such methods from past, present, and future. The context does not have to be strictly political. Cultural context is welcome too (well, it could have a political context, but you know what I mean!).
