when people wrote things like books and movies. Movies that had a plot, so you cared who's ass it was and why it was farting. And I believe that time can come again! |

I'll give you character development, but certainly not plot. "Greedy man gets into the oil business. Greedy man makes a shit ton of money. Greedy man beats a guy's head in with a bowling pin. The end." For there to be plot, there must be conflict which leads to rising action building to the climax and descending into the resolution. There was no real conflict...the guy's an asshole. Always was an asshole, and in the end he was still an asshole. Nothing was gained or learned by his experience...other than just how big of an asshole he really was. Don't get me wrong, I do believe the character developement and the dialogue and such was pretty good...but I still say the movie sucked because the plot was extremely shallow. They tried to do the whole Hamlet thing by showing the man's descent into madness. But when you think about it, everything he does is very predictable, he doesn't change his ways, and doesn't really learn anything about himself. The man's just a dick.
