Post Opera Web Browser
The first time I used Opera, I thought it was a peice of shit. Though recently I've been having trouble with Firefox and Flash (and that's because I've had to use Windows 98 SE).

It turns out Firefox 2 and the Flash plugin was eating 98's GDI resources like it was going out of style. So my computer kept on locking up. Because of this I decided to give Opera a try even though I thought it was a worthless peice of shit (based on past experience).

I was shocked. Opera is so snippy and responsive. It's really weird. Even youtube works properly. It works even better than when I had Firefox 3 and XP SP3 on here. So either the people who wrote opera got their shit together, or it was just the PC I was using Opera on back in 2000.

It's really not so bad. But once I get my new computer I'm going back to Firefox. There are some things I just dont like about Opera. On a modern OS Firefox kicks ass. All the other browsers suck in comparison.

Duh. I dont even use Opera anymore. Did for a week, and then my other problem started happening. Now I'm using Netscape 7.2, which works just fine. Once I get my Vista laptop I'm going to download Firefox 3 with this PC and stick it on my new PC with a thumb drive. The running of Internet Explorer makes god send a thunderbolt from the sky and gives a kitten a herpies pie.

For me, I can download videos from Youtube, skin it to match my Winamp/Windows XP Vista theme on my netbook, Don't need virus protection, just a scanner, and the list goes on...

Well, you dont have to convince me how superiour Firefox is (I already know).

As for the skining shit and saving Youtube vids to my HD, I couldnt be bothered.

The whole reason I wasnt using it was because I have to use a old version of Windows (dont have a XP CD, the fags at MS stopped selling it and my computer is too slow for vista)

The latest version of Firefox I can run on here is version 2. And well a lot of stuff just doesnt act right in version 2. I'm typing this in IE 6. I feel like i'm going to puke. But things show up right, because a lot of people are too stupid to upgrade their browsers, so a lot of websites are forced to make their code compatible with it.

Designing a website to be compatible through everything is indeed a pain, but not necessarily harder because of IE6. Granted, IE6 is an annoyingly stupid browser that people should stop using either way.

Opera has indeed improved over the years. It's surprising because the first time I used Opera (I was using it under the suggestion of a friend of mine who hated Firefox for all its 'bugs') a few years back, it was horribly slow and annoying. I decided to use it more recently because it's good to test websites in various browsers to check compatibility, and it's definitely much sleeker. I bet they saw their userbase rapidly switching over to Firefox and decided to clean up their act.

Firefox is still superior no matter what though.

Post Re: Opera Web Browser
My first experience with the opera web browser was in 2000, when they had the ads and stuff on it. A lot of the time it just wouldnt load a page or would take forever to load anything(back in those days I was using Internet Explorer, since ironically it worked better than Netscape)

And the funny thing is, after I swapped out my sound card, the mysterious lockups stopped happening. There was something seriously wrong with that sound card, I dont know what.

Thank god they make Firefox 3 for Windows 2k. *hugs Firefox*

Post Re: Opera Web Browser
There are several pros and cons to opera.

Opera tends to be absolute shit in some aspects. For one, it's for hipsters. Yes, that's a legitimate con. You do not want to be a hipster. Also, it's a POS. It can't handle too many tabs. It crashes often. It also has this annoying error in which certain things don't download. They just open your download folder. Another thing, terrible private browsing. Not recommended for porn. ^.^

On to pros: It remembers the sites you visit so you can just type in a single letter and enter. It usually remembers your session once you close it(can be a con as well, though I consider it a pro). It's well organized and keeps track of all your downloads/favorites. The sidebar is useful, Opera turbo can come in handy if you have a bad internet connection. The main thing I like is that it runs almost anything. Whether the websites you visit, videos you watch, or games you play have the worst coding imaginable, it will run them. And it will run them perfectly.

With that said, I like opera quite a bit. I do prefer Chrome and Firefox though there are certain things chrome refuses to run properly for which I use opera. As for firefox, it's an all over great browser, but the one serious problem I have with the new patch is the lack of http://. The great thing about firefox though is that it can handle a lot of tabs, a lot of memory, and a lot of use. It's made for computers that are a bit on the not-so-durable side. As for private browsing, I'd say chrome takes the prize. Firefox is good for loading up proxies and false IP's so if you're into trolling and getting into places you're banned from ;)

Basically, it depends on what you're using your browser for. I personally recommend downloading all three and using them interchangeably. That's what I do.
