I've started doing this stand-alone project some time ago but dropped it for a couple of reasons.
1. Flash suits it better and changing the graphics of one city alone seems inefficient and tasteless.
2. Studies and work are kikin in and I don't have enough will to spare llittle the time left.
3. I'm too impressed with Yoms work and effort, I think oryginal graphs deserve to stay.
4. Newgrounds have limited space for uploads and good quality .gif, .png or even .jpg backgrounds would take too much space.
5. I've lost half of my works in an accident and got pissed about starting from the beggining.

So as I have also putted some time and effort already into this project - I think I can as well show a couple of pics and how I've made them.
Meaby if I hone my skills some more on flash or find some other way around files size and preservation of quality (And find the time) -I will reasume the project.

What the Kevin Bacon is going on here. No, dataloss doesn't happen anymore. Recuva. I sleep now but for the sake of Adam Lambert's foreskin google and use that one, simple data recovery tool. I sound like an ass but I've sworn never to be the victim of dataloss again. I only hope it's not too late.

Online Data Storage
These services offer the ability to backup your data to an offsite location accessible from any Internet connected device. Each has an option to share the files, make files private and is free. Instead of uploading different files to each I recommend having the same files at each location for redundancy.

• Mega — 50GiB (share, private, free)
• Mediafire — 50 GiB (share, private, free)
• Google Mail — 15 GiB (private, free, share via e-mail)
• deviantArt's sta.sh — 2 GiB (share, private, free)

Data Retention
Avoiding a data loss event is more than just backing up your files; it's a way of doing things that limits the possibility for such an event. If constructing a ZFS NAS server is within reason then that's the obvious choice. For the lay there are a few simple steps to making it hard to impossible for data loss to occur.

1. Use a big drive. Optimally this drive should be ten times the size of what you're putting on it. Larger drives can go longer without fragmenting and most modern file systems will use actually blank space before over-writing files.
2. Use a separate drive for torrents and downloading than you use for important files. Torrents and frequent downloading cause large amounts of disk writes.
3. Utilize hardlinking to keep a mirror of your files somewhere safer (like a directory named "IMPORTANT DO NOT DELETE") without using more disk space. The Link Shell Extension provides a Windows native method for accessing the NTFS hardlinking functions.
4. Maintain local backups. Terabyte drives are now commonplace and cheap, many offered in external enclosures with USB 3 or eSATA. Teracopy is a simple way to ensure a valid backup each time.

Access Control
If you have to share a computer for any reason, all modern operating systems offer file system native methods of user level access controls; read your documentation for more information. If you prefer a third-party option there are several available. (I'll only list multiplatform, free options here.)

• TrueCrypt is overkill for simply negating this vector of data loss but it can be effective.
• 7-Zip utilizes AES-256 to password protect archives.

A long time ago I fucked up a Windows install and lost a lot (ALL) of my data. I had backups of some of it but it still sucked. I have spent a lot of my time learning about data storage and retention. I build computers for some side cash in a way that limits data loss without negatively impacting performance (in fact, it makes the entire system faster). I tend to ramble and rant but it's the future and data loss events should be a thing of the past by now. Please, think of the pixels.

As for doing the background art to the next megaproject, I do love your art, weather or not it should be in the next project highly depends on the next project. for example, if it's negima, then people have come to expect the style of love hina and galaxy angel and a generally anime style anyways. actually, it's kind of needed to emulate the anime style of what were basing it off of.

If it's a sex kitten game, then probably go for it, since sex kitten games started with jpg backgrounds in the first place and are therefore much more apt for transistions which we've been doing a bit.

If it's anything else then yeah, since it's already experimental.

I thought recently about creating a picture database for some simple RPG game, so that instead of making separate pictures for all locations You could put them together like a puzzle. Something simillar to RPG maker - it would save up a lot of space in game and give some interesting new options.
For example randomly generated locations so each game would be different, changing placement of some objects on location without leaving it (pushing a rock that is blocking your path, opening treasure chest etc.), moving NPC's / enemies...
This way the game would be relatively small and have decent graphics.
...but my friends that are into indie games are already on other projects.

Perhaps, I'm not sure myself yet. There's so many things to choose from.

It works... in theory. Res's idea is the basis of the MultiBattle Area System. However, each individual enemy must be carefully coded in, as multiple enemies sharing one array often causes... logistics problems.
