I nearly fucked up my computer, or I just did, costing me some time to recover the damn thing. On the other hand, I did dabble a bit on serial connection capabilties. No, it's not new technology, just some old shit, or at least I think more. It becomes quite confusing. I half assed the challenge and gotten my computer to install a different system. It wasn't very cool despite my somewhat tested trial and error methodologies (yeah, just go with the wind, won't you).
I was also looking back at some of the systems. One of them is Guix. It's a pretty robust system with a robust design. I especially like the OS installation procedures. Very clean, very nice touch. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the quickest servers to host and distribute files. I guess that's a cost in reputation. If you got the patience, then Guix would be no problem for you.
I think I did forgotten a GNU/Linux Arch-based system. Yes, I did. It's the campy, but still working, Parabola GNU/Linux-libre! Yes, it's the 'I use Arch, BTW' meme. It's a bit lacking in the matter of established development, but then again, I think I'll give it a try. I can't afford time just yet.
But don't get me wrong when Hyperbola GNU/Linux-libre comes to town! It's so paranoid, that it is switching over to BSD kernel development over reasons of High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) policy, gradual decline in discipline, Rust programming shit, and of course, requirement of internet access for system support. But hell, how would one get all their shits together in one OS installation? I mean, internet access is like a fact and/or natural/social law of internet and computer things.
I'm getting a split of conflict over the bolas. That's probably why I didn't go for them, a lack of establishment, per se. Well, okay, I would opt for Parabola b/c Hyperbola is initially CLI by default. You have to setup things up like Linux scratch so there you go.

About that Parabola being GUI after boot operating system installation, it turns out that youtube videos show that isn't the case. What a downer, but all is not lost!

Legendary Kingdoms Gamebook RPG, with interactive fictional illustrations too. Competes with text adventure. We have gone back in time of the 70s and/or 80s. B) CAREFUL, THIS ONE CAN WASTE TIME! Just a disclaimer, there are quirks to gamebook variants. I prefer the branch-plot novel variants, which is basically to pick a choice and hope for the best. It's not there is a sudden page turn of death, there's usually a way out of this mess. Electronic versions of branch-plot novles come in the forms of interactive fiction or visual novels. "solitaire RPG adventures" or "adventure gamebooks", more commonly identified as tabletop RPG in novel form, involves a game of gambling or rolling dice, the sudden page turn of death may involve a mandatory battle of dice rolls. Sure, it could be exhilariting, but it will suck to have misfortunate done outright just because of a dice roll. To load saves, all we have to do is to turn back the page before the dice rolls. The electronic version of "solitaire RPG adventures" or "adventure gamebooks", more commonly identified as tabletop RPG in novel form, is basically text RPG, interactive fiction RPG, or visual novel RPG. To load saves, all we have to do is to tsave scum (load saves) before the dice rolls. Sure, to load saves or turn back the page would water down the game experience with its somewhat cheating cheesing. That's when cheating can suck, it all depends on the variables. On the other hand, permadeath in roguelikes can make the game more immersive, but then again, can suck because of all that time and effort seem like a wasted input. One can just copy and paste save files for save scumming from there on out. There's a somewhat steep learning curve in terms of roguelike competency. Otherwise, it's probably best for one to pick out a different type of game depending on various factors. Gamebooks, even text RPGs, are at somewhat level to roguelikes. The thing is that the pages can determine difficulty level flucuations. While text RPGs could be time wasters, they are understandably considered as RPGs in standard. So I wouldn't exactly reject text RPGs in the end. They are RPGs, after all. They still have a gaming niche space in handheld devices. Graphic display is not one of handheld devices's strong points. Did I mention that internet access is not required to play such games? It's not a mud or MMO text RPG, but you would know how it goes down. Just a potential monitor safety measure.
Try lowering the monitor's color ratio and gamma level. The light is much dimmer, but so are old monitors too. Gamma yes, but the colors setting adjustment could be problematic.
