The Sun.
So, you know, the sun can get pretty intense.
So, if you needed to skim right above the surface, and what would you do to build a ship that can withstand such intense heat?

Re: The Sun.
OK so you need to make a force-field, force-field is a general term it can expand into many different forms based on what 'force' you are wanting to shield against, for example in stardorks you can still see through it suggesting it's only meant to block slow more physical light such as lazers and blunt attacks and explosions.
You will need to protect against nearly every force and form of light and radiation, so to be honest your field will be white and completely opaque (not see through at all) when enabled you will need to insure your course was previously set as this field will make navigation by any means impossible as even electromagnetic radiation will not penetrate it.
you will need to make an electromagnetic field, NO NOT AN ELECTRO-MAGNET you will have to take a permanent magnet and force a constant flow of electricity through/around it (just like earth) then you need to amplify the current (turn up the electric output). now you will need electromagnets to generate a controlled strength magnetic field and feed this towards the permanent magnet to keep it from loosing it's magnetic charge. the more volts you pour in the stronger the field will get.
You need this field VERY STRONG in order to bend and deflect photons and with them radiation. only one problem with this, it's a g-diffuser so you wont be able to get close to the sun because it's gravity will repel you.
to counteract this you will need the star engine of mass fuck and place it exactly just inside the EM field. the reverberations between the forces will create thrust and if strong enough force your way into the sun.

Re: The Sun.
How about surviving a sun's expansion surge at the end of its main sequence?

Re: The Sun.
I forgot one important factor Electromagnetism is blue in color, you will need to blast it with white light from the inside to repel all light colors, thats simple though a shit load of high powered LEDs set to white should do it. YomToxic wrote: How about surviving a sun's expansion surge at the end of its main sequence? Moar power. you will need to amplify the power of your G-diffuser and amplify the power of your star engine of great fuck otherwise you'll be pushed out.

Re: The Sun.
Being pushed out is fine. I just need some core systems to remain intact.

Re: The Sun.
then what I said should do it. it's the best you can do with the materials present on earth. It'll hold up nice and cozy, but there are tougher craft out there.

Re: The Sun.
there is a movie with a similar problem, the core, released in 2003 but instead of going to the sun, they need to reach the Earth.... core.

Re: The Sun.
This thread brings back memories........ back in the day.. when I used to design spaceships with other alien origin materials that earth doesn't have.... things seemed so simple back then.
