Lgallizeing weed
I figure, instead of takeing over the dumbass government thead, we could have a weed discussion here.
So, Where do you stand, and why, on legalizeing weed?
Personally, DJs post in the other topic seems to shut down any argument against it.
And really, People do grow and smoke it regardless, no matter what the law is. You can't stop it. And its not the most dangerous thing out there. So, why the hell WOULDN'T the goverment make it legal, slap a tax on it, and start rolling in the dough? They want to solve the economic crunch so bad? Legalize weed.

Re: Legallizeing weed
Dark Jester pretty much killed it since you can't argue against his statements. Although his words are worth nothing since there will always be excuses (some that make no sence at all) which will prevail. Well people could say it makes you paranoid but most humans are by nature to a certain extent so that reason isn't valid to me specially since some people who never taken drugs can be extremely paranoid all by theirself.

Yeah, I guess I just made this topic cause I was curious about the other users views on it. But, who would bother trying to argue agains DJs post? oh well. So I made a useless topic. Wouldnt be the first time.

Re: Lgallizeing weed
Only in certain states, and only for medical purposes, at least in the US. As far as I know anyways.
Does anyone know of active steps everyday people like us could do to help get it legalized?

Re: Lgallizeing weed
Heh, what can I say? I'm a dedicated pot advocate. The reason weed is illegal is because of tradition and what it stands for. It is one of the few things that has been illegal for too long and no one really even wants to bother with it...it's basically tradition. What it stands for is civil disobedience (evidently the government hated the hippies THAT much). What's really disturbing is that the US government classifies it as like, a Type A or Type 1 or something Substance. This means the government considers weed...marijuana...as dangerous a substance as heroin, crack, and meth. How many potheads go out robbing liquor stores for pot money? How many crack/methheads do? How many episodes of Intervention have revolved around a pothead ripping his/her family appart as they spiral down and down to the bitter darkness of rock-bottom and break down crying in the arms of their brother swearing they'll go to rehab 5 minutes after they cussed out their own mother? How many episodes of Intervention play out that way and revolve around an alcoholic? In today's society there is no really GOOD reason to keep weed illegal. It really basically comes down to "tradition". I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure weed has never been legal in America (not even in the beginning), where as alcohol always has been. Prohibition hit and the public backlash was so intense that they had to re-legalize booze. That, and the bootleggers were creating a shit-ton more crime. They re-legalize it and everything's cool again. Weed, however, has always been illegal...so there can be no "BRING IT BACK!!" outlash. But seriously...I don't know why politicians don't go ahead and legalize it. It makes NO sense to me whatsoever. It's really very hypocritical. If beer and cigarettes are legal (both products that people die from every single day) then why can't weed be legal (a crop that I honestly can't say I've ever heard a death-story about). --------------------------- Thanks "While You Were Posting" Notice. To answer your question, various parts of California have decriminalized it (meaning if you're caught in public with it, an officer CAN confiscate it, but won't arrest you). And I do believe that it is getting closer to being legalized. But as I said: it's tradition to keep it illegal. That's the main problem. ----------------------------- And to demon, the best way to do it would be contact your congressman...I'd suggest doing it anonymously.

Re: Lgallizeing weed
One of the most retarded laws we have now a days.
We could spend so many more resources on stopping crimes that ACTUALLY HURT PEOPLE if we legalized weed. I don't even want the stuff, i actually want to be in the FBI and I hate the fact that it's illegal.

Re: Lgallizeing weed
Well, I aggree with everyone here. I've been around people for years who smoke pot, they're great to be around, just like silly kids.
People used to ask me if I had a joint on the street (As if it was a ciggerette). The only time pot ever causes a problem is when people are drunk and stoned at the same time. Bad combination. Pot can however cause psychoses in those who are prone to psychosis (people with bipolar, schizoprhenia, etc) Other than that pot is healthy in moderation. But like anything, if it's done too much it's bound to cause some kind of problem. The worst thing that pot does is fry people out who smoke it way too much.

And here's another good idea. Legalize it, put a tax on it, and then just like alcohol: make businesses and "private distributors" have to purchase a Weed License in order to legally sell it. Holy shit, now they're making even MORE money off of it.

Holy shit, now they're making even MORE money off of it. Or have it like Canada has alcohol. Totally monopolize the sale of alcohol beverages. So they would totally monopolize the sale of marijuana products. This way they can keep it out of the hands of people who shouldnt be smoking it a lot easier. Plus the goverment will make a mint off it being the only entity authorized to sell it. Id imagine if Canada legalized pot, it would probably be sold at a provincial liquor commission outlet. You'd only be able to buy pot at a liqour store, or at a bar or place with a marijuana license.

Re: Lgallizeing weed
How cool would that be?
Go to marguitaville, get drunk, then stumble accross the street to Mary Jane's Bar and Grill and get stoned?
Maybe not both at the same time actually... But still.

No, no you had it right. You get drunk then get high, it's called "Faded", and it is a wonderful, wonderful experience.
