Re: Aw.. shit.
As noted in Yom's thread about the college bug, I am able to mix texture images in teh game, this is significant because I can do multiple cool tricks with that such as using a normal map to make the surface bump out THEN add a color map to make it look stained or rusted ETC. it also means things like real time "wet step marks", footprints in teh snow or cracks in walls and floors from damage, and obviously the other thing it can mean is gum-splats all over the sidewalks and pigeon shit on all the statues so it can look more real!
no pictures due to no privacy lol.

Re: Aw.. shit.
So, I have been spending an hour every few days on the game, it's not enough. I've been lazy and preoccupied with taking care of IRL and college business, I have major dev urges but I need to write an essay about the history of video games instead, I've started but I don't have a book lol any suggestions? I'm going off wikipedia atm but I can't use that indefinitely. also I might apply for a job at rockstar tomorrow to earn some food cash, maybe if things go well. BUT SERIOUSLY I NEED MORE FH TIMEZ FH IS A PLACE WHERE THINGS GET MADE! tomorrow I'll build a start of a city and maybe get some sense of a layout.

YomToxic wrote: Use the citations found in wikipedia. :D I wish it was the easy, the main introduction to the history of video games there has no citations for like 2 whole sections, and those that are there are web links, I need a book according to my teacher. "googles for books on the subject then tries to find torrents of the PDFs" Going out soon to see whats up at rockstar, I probably will get wiped off. "any positi..." "No." but I need a job lol, the change God supplies helps but we are still loosing money lol most I ever found was 2 pounds and some change and I spent it on listerine which is almost gone.

Re: Aw.. shit.
Well yesterday I finished a test map for the city, I still need to make a few components and just used a square of dirt to fill in where buildings should go. but here it is, the foundation of a basic city;

Shouldn't the sidewalks be smaller or the blocks be bigger?

Remon wrote: Shouldn't the sidewalks be smaller or the blocks be bigger? it looks like it but everything has been carefully measured, these streets are the thinnest of all the streets wide enough for a little more than one car (one way street). There are streets 2x wide, 3x wide, 4x wide. I just used the smallest of all things to start, will add wider things as I feel necessary.

Re: Aw.. shit.
random number generator test began last night and was inconclusive due to sleep and school schedule (as well as having never used this function of blender before) now after coming home from school and a short amount of reading random number generator is a complete success.
this means I can randomize item drops and better control random enemy movement ETC. - just one more skill added to my collection.
I do these small tests when I have no energy for bigger, more important things. next small test will be a timer (count up) and a timer (count down)
Other things already figured out are: Experience gain, money gain, life gain, statistic change, level change and class change, HP/MP bars and damage and refills. (lots of Add and Subtract to property values.)

I feel inspired... ;_; Glad to inspire teh Yomu chan I decided to actually not assume it would work for what I want, so I made a test scenario with a cube that randomly moves in 4 directions. from the result, I can say it does work and I have now completed my first enemy AI simulation (albeit one of the most simple of all) I so badly want to make a zelda or sexkitten style game in 3D... I just.... must focus on main project!!!!!

Write that down. Side projects are good research venues to further beef up your skills.
