So you may not have heard or maybe you did but 22 hours ago major shit went down which caused No Deal to be the only option for the UK to exit the EU.
The first thing that happened, happened a while back, PM May (no not Pokemon May, it's Prime Minister May), got a deal fro the EU, one she and the EU had been wetting themselves over for a long time, a deal in which they could steal northern ireland from the UK, and impose the EU law and supreme court over the UK and dictate the UK after it leaves with no say on the matter in EU parliament. Hitler was mighty pleased at this conquest of Britain. as such the EU parliament and president have decided to hold firm and say that no changes to the deal will be allowed.
But then something unexpected happened, May's deal was defeated in the house of commons! not once! but TWICE, and the last defeat was Overwhelmingly Substantial in votes, it even made history as the most down voted thing to ever come before the house of commons.. we are talking SAGEd shit right there, they SAGEed the deal.
Now, this happened months ago, lets get to the present. shortly ago May attempted to hold another vote on the same deal but the speaker of the house of commons pointed out it was out of order because of a house rule that prevents the same thing from being voted on repeatedly. In other words, May has to change the deal to proceed with another vote (but the EU is refusing to change the deal so.. that's never going to happen). May realized this and came up with her last possible option, when pushed against the wall of the deadline approaching, she desperately went to beg the EU for an extension.
But guess what? yeah the EU wont give her an extension unless she passes the deal first. so now it's a catch 22 there is no way forwards. and because of that May was forced to allow the No Deal war room to start producing what the UK will and can do in the event of No Deal.
There is one way forwards the EU has hinted they are willing to offer a lengthy extension at an unspecified price (a price that May will then have to bring before the commons and have a vote on. most likely it's northern ireland and the divorce money up front or no extension) this will never ever pass in the commons.
meanwhile the president of france has sworn that he will veto any attempts by britain at any length of extension. [second catch 22] this means that it is now not possible for an extension or a deal and Britain leaves on March 29th with no deal.
it's the only option and the best option. and they really shouldn't have left it to the last second. this is what happens though when the government doesn't believe in what the people voted for. it's a common problem in the world today.
but yeah, Congrats to the Britfucks! you finally got the brexit you wanted! Hooray for No deal!!
