they are a us company they host their data in the us. yet users in the us are being advised discord is now following european commission regulations. not only that they say they have a right to sublicense and modify anything you upload even if you don't own rights to do so yourself.

for example, if someones uploads a game you made without your permission when you licensed your game to forbid modifications, discord is saying they have a right to modify it.

I will not be using discord any more. I advise everyone else to just use the site chat here until we can make something better.

they've proclaimed themselves under the law of the EU even though they are a US company.

also you cannot opt out of the arbitration clause any more.

do not agree. if you agree, close that account, it's not worth it as a developer "but I'm not releasing anything via discord" that doesn;t matter any more, if you agree to this ToS they ahve a right to use distribute and modify your content that's uploaded by others. oh and they claim the right to profit from your stuff by using it in advertisements and sharing it with partners. they name google as a partner.

Discord already have a policy of copyright ownership over all data in their chat network. Any image is their property. If someone cares about protecting their own rights, he/she/it got to take the legal battle.

I already forgot about Discord, but it's usually for latency reasons. A chat for heavy media content? Well, fuck. I thought it would just be radio/podcast/video/webcam chat, and that may involve privacy risks.

A breach of consumer rights would be a christmas present of compromise. Guess what? Just because it's a present, doesn't mean it's all good.
I was about to make a topic about Saint Nick and/or Krampus being a personification of judgment than gifts, but maybe that's too much research for now. Of course, a skull and shadow silhouette masking the santa suit would change Nick into the Grim Reaper. Of course, the hat could be a misinterpretation of a jinn and ponytail. Krampus is just a jinn with horns. However, that's enough overanalysis.
