Discuss your thoughts regarding the revolution going on in Libya.
Personally, those brave souls out there have my utmost respect for standing up against a dictator, especially an insane one at that. Of course I can appreciate the fact that we don't want to get too involved given what happened in Iraq but at the same time I'm glad we're offering some support such as by taking out anti-air capabilities and helping to establish a no fly-zone over the area so the rebellion can't be bombed.
I pray for those people's safety.

Re: Revolution in Libya
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Libya taken off the 'bad nations' list for some reason some time ago?.

Re: Revolution in Libya
It's always about political and economical interests. Always. There simply does not exist something such as "offering help" or "in good faith" just because.
If we had problems with the goverment here, and some kind of revolution started the US would LOVE to bring their magnanimous powers of help here "In order to restore peace" (in a country they have no business being in, in the first place) but since they're at it, why not take the water too? Or do anything they want?
The media will show some random soldier giving water to a starved kid, millions will cry in empathy, but nobody will know whats really going on. Until years after. Happens all the time.
We are living interesting times, perhaps we'll see some stability in 20 years?

I find the world is moving quickly. We're just now getting sexuality equality. The class divide is getting greater, but even the poorer nations are much better off.
Anyway on point I agree, it's an economic certainty that applies to much more than just economics. Why knowledge is becoming a mass tool(see: Wikileaks). I don't know the actual situation other than from some reporters I trust, and they're just getting the general picture and not the specifics. It's hard to. America does stuff for it's image and leverage on the world. I love the US in a lot of ways, but we're broken in probably just as many.
