 Stupid Ass Question Probably the wrong topic for this too. Whatever. So question about all the roleplay shit people do. Basically the only roleplay I've done is D&D (Yeah, I'm one of those fags) and don't really care about this open no-system stuff. But, one thing I've never really understood is how people are supposed to fight. Is it just completely based on what you say you do? For example I could say "I punch through your gut and rip out your intestines" and just have that happen? Because that seems extremely broken and I have a tough time believing people put up with that. Or I just know nothing. Probably the latter in this case.

Re: Stupid Ass Question That example of yours is called god-moding, you try to make it fair if you want a serious fight. Equal it, when either of you give in, you can just worsen the effect of the opponents attack. You don't controll other people's characters, you only controll your own, or people most likely do not want to role play with you if you controll your opponents character. Either way, you don't do attacks, you attempt them, the opponent decides the outcome of the attack. Stupid example. "He clenched his fist in the same motion as he pulled his arm back, sending the fist off toward Remon's face" Look, I don't say I hit you, I say I am sending it in your direction. The outcome of my punch is what you make it.

And if one person decides to work realistically and the other person doesn't, then the other person would win. Just seems flawed.

I believe it has something to do with rolling a dice, and arraying your character's statistics against another. Let's say, for example, Yom punches a rock. This rock has a defense of 99, while my attack has a value of 10. So, 99/10= 9.9 damage. So we roll a 20 sided dice, 1-10 is no damage/recoil, is 11 is 1 damage, and so on until 20 is 9.9 damage. So if I suffer a recoil, it's based on how badly the dice rolls. If it's a 1, I get mildly bruised knuckles and a jolt of pain, 10 says my arm disintegrates. Godmodding is for noobs, and it's very much frowned upon. This is the conclusion I have drawn after analyzing maidrpg.pdf. I could be wrong.

Re: Stupid Ass Question RP is technically: The world you rp in, what it contains, and what rules are set by the "maker" of the world. The more rules the more realistic, but at many times the more boring and numbning towards the RP.
The ultimate challenge of DMs/GMs (Dungeon/Gamemasters) is in my eyes, to make an RP as "realistic" within that world as possible (i mean it could an FH rpg, nothing is SUPPOSED to make sense then), but also as enjoyable as possible with as few rules as possible.
I mean, what do i want to do? Engross myself totally in an awesome world, or roll 5 different dices 10 times each time i take a step? <.< Just saying.
As for God-moding, or Metagaming........ It sucks. Its immature. And it's boring ;P "Oh you punch me? WELL I TURN YOUR BODY INSIDE OUT WITH MY POCKET KNIFE. Also, ITS AN AUTOMATIC SUCCESS CUZ I HATE TO LOOSE AND UH YOU SUCK". Its fun when we do it for shit n giggles in the chat fo example :D But has no place in true RP.
