Now, first off, I have to say that 3D computer graphics usually cause my mind or eyes to wear down to a headache (lucky for you 2Dish publishers!). Hell, there are even labels stating this kind of thing. I wouldn't be surprised if future generations become more cautious against 3D computer graphics.

How does this got to deal with DN3D? Well, not it's technically not 3D, there is a matter of mapping geometry that could make it feel 3D or just puzzling. I don't mind the sprites (or even flavour) of the game because they alone can't compare to the dizzying visual effects of mapping design. In the maps, you might get flickering light effects that could spell photosensitive epilepsy. Even more definite, the mapping complexities can cause frustration, wondering what the hell happened as this action game tolls out into a epileptic puzzle game. I mean, you need to see the screen, but the game is trying to wreck more than your mind. It's like the crossword puzzle from hell. Even doom tones down on visual effects to a calmer nature and its theme involves hell.

Photosensitive epilepsy and map navigation frustration extends other mediums such as console games and even anime! I guess it's the matter of perspective versus screen Frame rate. Already, the screen is blinking fast and there's more where that comes from to top the icing of the cake! Maybe not as complex, but even fucking (lop-sided colour barf graphic) anime could induce such unhealthy effects! Take for example, Pokemon, which have a show that fucked kids for life. Media and tech industries need to put on this health regulation of frame rates. Hey, at least it should be more efficient in cutting out the flash works. In addition, those Star Wars like products may be subjected to such health screenings and penalties.

---

Maybe I am being a bitch. I mean, prolonged screen time is a bitch too. Maybe it's just a cold drop in temperature. I have to be reasonably healthy, won't I?

Man, I didn't mentioned the Alien Armageddon for Duke Nukem 3D? Damn! Well, I did mention it for the ally project resources, but I have to wait for time to polish up. It wasn't a official post about the mod.

Anyways, this mod is basically a big TC, one of the most recent ones. I'm sure that there are others. This one is the mega project, the revamp and connections of the canon titles.

I say that the new episodes/maps are at least safe on the eyes. Oh, and the tinnitus inducing sounds are practically gone! Dual character switching option, photo-like textures (watch it, some of it is adult, but not nsfw or x [weekend is recommended]), and now a shop hud display! The change of weapons is a nice change of pace. Some of those monsters can be a pain!

---

More to bitch about the original episode maps!

Maybe the mapping complexities is still complex to me for some reason...
Maybe I'm too used to doom, but I've seen some complex doom map geometries too.
It's something, maybe the visual rendering is the damn problem. Maybe it's too 3D looking?

The constant flickering of lights in the more tech/space maps, it can be painful. Almost like those internet troll things.

One thing that probably ticks me off the most is the noise mixing. I do appreciate the surround sound of the ambiance, but still. In the tech/space maps, you don't get the space atmosphere going on. Even if it's a spaceship, it's like no star trek ship ambiance, but I guess I'm too mainstream? What do I get instead of the clanking steps? The constant computer error beeping and shit like that! It covers a large radius, attacking your senses. I had to cut down on the channels from 128, to 16. Hell, doom doesn't even come close to it! Silence heaven, I guess.

I finally checked out AMC Squad. It's a even bigger Duke Nukem 3D mod!

This one have maps that may encourage completion of its map sets in order to gain map set completion points. Such points of varying degrees have upgrade/items/support contribution/production. Upgrade opportunities are found during the progressive play.

Now, it's like any other map. However, level, or should I say, point/item/currency collection progression and finding research projects (this one is the mystery secrets portfolio), isn't much of a thing for me, considering that I am more inclined for a doom variant type of gameplay. It is a bit of a hassle to restart maps, let alone map sets (because you want to get all the point types down), just to find that research project. It's even probably worse that you might actually have to switch character/classes for certain quests/tasks/maps. After all you invested into your character/class, you have to start over from the beginning with a different character/class. At least just add the required character/class for the certain quests/tasks/maps as an ally. Maybe try out the Alien Armageddon way. Talk about character/class restrictions! Talk about infringing upon freedom of choice! Oh, the humanity!

Oh, and one more thing, the maps, plus map sets, while may not be large, they would take a considerable amount of time to complete, points or no points. It gets worse if you do care for points. This fact is especially true if you go for the Armageddon difficulty. Yes, I went hard balls, yes, I go down dying plenty of times, not to mention that I had to remember certain just in time events when negotiating my weapons against a formidable opponent. That's ensuring hits with Mikko's (maybe M.I.A. and) assault rifle in hollow point (ammo type gained after plenty of map aborts to collection polymer points) against that pig cop with bullet shield! Each miss is a race behind the pig cop's damage output.

That being said, it's best to play this mod with a steady pace instead of trying to run through a marathon. It ain't you everyday Saturday cartoons and/or (multiplayer) arcade session. Oh, time flies! RPG/adventure stuff do take time, with probably long walks across maps. This mod manages RPG/adventure elements to some degree even though there is the action, or at least it was promoted like an action game. System shock and maybe those Elder Scrolls like games are the closest idea to AMC Squad mod.
\
I see plenty of mod asset potential. It's just that there is some kind of burnout/turnover result, diminishing other perspectives for the moment.

Another thing that sucks about AMC Squad, is the fact that certain lines/sectors will be considered impassable after some milestone point after. I actually skipped onwards and wanted to backtrack after remembering that a (Sang-James) items/weapons dropping and sharing map is vital to complete the map (how that characters would know is either they do keep in mind to backtrack [in timing is a different different story] or for a more realistic approach is a PDA notification before reaching a point of no backtracking return [PLZ ADD DIS GAMEPLAY NOTIFICATION FIX!]). I have to resort to the autosave list in order to get track on track. While I do consider that this type of map works well for singleplayer, the aspects of multiplayer is being compromised. This troll thing needs to stop.

That being said, AMC Squad goes by pretty well, ignoring potential farming habits (especially on necessary character/class switch for certain maps), lines/sectors of no backtracking return, and probably other stuff like multiplayer and lack of villain character/classes just like the doom mod Samsara and Naraka. Yes, AMC Squad emphasizes on adventure and time. I do get there's a RPG entrepreneurship thing going on. I guess I was expecting action, but I have to keep in mind of the mapping details and Myst themes like that. It's like contemporary cultural literature in some sense. Maybe it's me who needs to see in other perspectives.

Oh yeah, when I continue after the end of episode 1, I don't get the story intro movie from episode 2.

Man, I go to a place to get a key on a top, and them aliens/cycloids know about it. They place assault and defense from around the door. Were they spying? Why not place ambush against the top instead?

I know it's just game and maybe you don't have to make sense. Maybe there is supposed to be logic? I dunno.

Oh, I did mention AWOL. I am sure that there are still mapping mishaps about. However, the game is pretty good. Maybe there's a different standard in aesthetics and such, but the game stands out fair enough.

There's actually a light TC that's pretty swell, but it is in bad moral taste. Theme is like a retarded Postal game, but nothing with the horror emphasis and more of the slapstick comedy shit.

It's Mr The Killer.

The anti-hero, looked like the Scream murder antagonist, judging from the robe getup, but that's just a fad. He/she/it might been a retard just going how nature goes. That's about it. I really like the atmosphere, despite the story narrative. I consider the aesthetics and vocals good enough for modding potential.

Note that the list is not exactly complete.

And yes, there is a bit of texture as portrait nudity, but it's not too sensual/sexual. There is at least one sprite set with bad pixelated presentation delivery, kind of like in Shadow Warrior's anime girls (but looks a bit worse).

Also have much worse virustotal.com scan result rating than Silver Night's Crusaders.
