Post Chronicles of Jungalore: Rise of Dragons
Chronicles of Jungalore: Rise of Dragons
"In the days following the time of the cataclysm, beyond the time of Ahnbein Altena, there was an age seen only in the snow of memory. The age of the dragons."

Following the events of the first Chronicles of Jungalore, much rebuilding came to pass. There were many lost following the cataclysm, many seeking new life. Crumbling were the foundations of what everyone thought was to be, and skepticism permeated throughout the land over matters of prophecy and myth.

Years later, many heroes still walk the land, and yet the losses made people question matters of victory, matters of leadership. Nonetheless, those who remain loyal are well rewarded for their deeds, as old guilds come to crumble and new organizations rise to take their place.

This is a story ten years after the cataclysm came to an end...

Jungalore Race Guide
  • Blinish: Use the humanoid creature type. You are immune to doom but are weak to mind and photon. Now choose between goblin, hobgoblin, orc, ogre, or troll. Goblins gain small size. Ogres gain large size. Both goblins and ogres use skillful to take a technique. Hobgoblins and orcs can take either a technique or spell. Trolls gain their choice of large or small size, never medium, and use skillful to take a spell.

  • Dwarflinger: Use the humanoid creature type. Take health tradeoff. You are resistant to stone damage and have darksight as a result of evolution. You do not gain any options otherwise regarding evolution or the normal weakness/resistance clause. Now, choose if you are stout or strategic. Stout are akin to dwarves, gaining no other effects. Strategic are akin to gnomes, and gain small size.

  • Elvyn: Use the feyfolk creature type. These specific rules overwrite the normal rules on feyfolk. Choose one set of gifts; Flight, mighty muscles, and nails, OR charm, flight, and trance. If you choose the first set, you are weak to photon but resistant to doom, and are able to use health tradeoff at character creation. If you choose the second set, you are weak to burn, but resistant to mind, and are able to use willpower tradeoff at character creation. In both cases, you gain exceptional jump. Once per 24 hours, you can use either the gargablight awakening or faeblight awakening respective to your gifts chosen. Gargablight gains +2 PHY, faeblight gains +2 SPE. Both of these abilities last for the next 2d4+2 combat encounters or 30 minutes, whichever lasts shorter. You can alternatively select no gifts. In which case you are considered a humanoid instead with no resistance or weakness but gain an exceptional climb and an edge to checks regarding nature (ie. checks involving the use and study of bone, minerals, and plants).

  • Human: Use the humanoid creature type. Arguing for evolution bonuses is allowed, but extremely difficult. Discuss w/ SomebodyElse. If you want specific bloodlines, Altenans have an edge to religion. Selkie have an edge to history. Velians have an edge to culture.

  • Kemono: Use the animal creature type and discuss w/ SomebodyElse.

  • Meridian: Use animal creature type. You take health tradeoff. Your animal physiology grants waterlungs and exceptional swim. You are weak to energy damage and resistant to hydro damage OR you are weak to both wind and energy damage and immune to hydro damage. Emberborn Meridians may instead take immunity to burn for weakness to frost and hydro. Your sex determines your size. In any case, you can choose medium. Female meridians may opt to be small. Male meridians may opt to be large.

  • Reptid: Use the faefolk creature type. Depending on your dragon heritage, you will gain different weaknesses/immunities. Likewise, you will gain a mix of supernatural gifts from ageless, breath attack, camouflage, flight, mighty muscles, nails, perceptive, stealthy, or strong liver. SomebodyElse may also grant additional movement bonuses. You may choose any size of small, medium, or large.

  • Titan: Use the humanoid creature type. You are large size and are an exceptional runner. You resist your choice of frost or burn, and are weak to the other.

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
Before the RP actually begins, I will note the current version does lack some things and are not up to date, but every update will be available on a Sunday if not sooner. Furthermore, V2, V3, and V4 are the versions for the second, third, and fourth story arcs. So they'll be called out in due time as long as people play.

Currently, here's what will be updated/fixed:
-Adding Legendary Weapon Locations
-Adding staple characters.
-Adding more monsters.
-Updating Titles.
-Updating location info.

If anyone has questions, just ask me via PM/Skype/Chat. ::D

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
Welp, today is Sunday, and now that we have at least two profiles and one final major fix to the RP, I declare that it is finally open! From here on in, any out of character (OOC) text will follow the same system as Gaia Online, using double brackets ((like so)).

With that said, here's what is included in the v1.01 update:
    -Removed obsolete titles.
    -Fixed character skeleton.
    -Fixed class info.
    -Added Peasant class.
    -Renewed certain monsters.
    -Fixed drop item info.
    -Added new monsters/bosses.
    -Added descriptions to all monsters/bosses.
    -Renewed descriptions of locations.
    -Renewed map.
-Added schools to modify class and add to stats.
    -Began inclusion of arena.
    -Added class flowchart.
-Added info for the Velian Casino.

Also, as mentioned in chat, if anyone has suggestions or fixes for the game, they earn 1000 Legens per applied fix/suggestion. It can be claimed at any point in time from the mail or wherever it fits for the RP, and spread among any of your characters as you wish. Here's the current rewards...
-YomToxic: 2000 Legens for Peasant Class addition among other things.
-Rem: 2000 Legens for pointing out class info error and sharing class flowchart. Already helped out for the next update and is getting 3000 Legens for that contribution.

That said, see you all in the RP! :P

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
Meridia.

Once the home of the Meridian race, now a castle home to dragons and the ruler of the Remnvald Archipelago on the eastern portion of Jungalore. Like a wall, the nation stands under dragon rule, fighting the mortal races and seeking to purge them entirely, declaring that they are abominations not truly of the world, inferior to the mighty reptilian race. Yet they are fools. They forget their heritage. They forget that we were the race that birthed half of their kind. They forget that we are the true rulers.

Yet bloodlines and racial ties do not matter when you are driven from your very capital and back to the primordial home of your kind. That is where we the Meridians live now, under the sea in a new underwater home named New Meridia. Yet while the queen lies slain in the court, we of the Meridians strive to take back what is rightfully ours.

That is where I come in. That is where everything begins for me.

--------------------------------------------------

"... Mikkael..."

"MIKKAEL!"

"Huh!? What?" The meridian suddenly awakened, shooting his gaze around frantically. A slim, yet strong soldier of the Meridian Army, wearing the starter attire of a graduate from the meridian training grounds with a rapier at his side. He turned his attention to the officer at the front of the amphitheater as the others chuckled at his lack of observance and attentiveness.

"Honestly Mikkael, you'll be the death of our race... Did you not hear? Princess Taltanis has requested a soldier be sent to investigate the word out in the domain. She wishes to see you first to brief you on the details..." The officer stated with annoyance, "You'll want to pay attention to this. Please, for once in your life."

Mikkael nodded in response, "Apologies, sir. I'll do as instructed."

"Good. Now get going."

The city of New Meridia wasn't something Mikkael found particularly interesting, likely because he had always lived there. Similarly, the people were of no interest to him. Not the princess, not the guards, not even the heroes that returned from hunting the dragons, either underwater and on land. Yet were the other races to see it, surely they'd be impressed at the corpses of Lagiacrus being harvested for materials, or the masterfully crafted weaponry placed within the stores. Yet it was of no real surprise to him. Even as he swam towards the great palace and entered its doors, nodding to the guards as he did so, he only felt as though he was following an order and traversing nothing but the empty waves of his birth.

"The princess has been waiting. You may enter." The guard outside instructed as she opened the door. Mikkael entered the throne room of the princess, keeling a short distance from where she was seated.

"So, you are one of the graduates? Might I know your name?" The Meridian princess asked politely. Her blue skin shone in the palace's lighting, and her elegant pink dress and streaks stood out. Royal fins were on her head, indicating her status.

"I am, my name is Mikkael of the Altans clan."

"Mikkael Altans... I have heard of the clan's noble deeds through history." The princess remarked with a graceful smile, "This task seems too simple for one of your clan. Nonetheless, you may rise."

Mikkael rose and tried to remain attentive towards his princess. Something he wouldn't normally do for an extended period since he had been through the motions numerous times. "What is your desire, Princess Taltanis?"

She gazed out through the window at the underwater city as she spoke, "The Slab of Destiny is a Human artifact, created by the 12th ruler of the Altena bloodline. It is located north of our home palace, as you should know, and speaks of the destiny this planet will face..." Her voice trailed off as she explained.

"But, hasn't the Slab of Destiny remained silent for years? Are you suggesting something has happened to it? Or that it finally has spoken?" Mikkael asked.

"I wonder the same thing. It seems there is much rabble among the people, and I cannot go outside for safety reasons. Of course, I wish to know what is being said out there. Can you do this for me?"

Mikkael nodded with a sudden excitement at the prospect of something important occurring. "I will."

Upon his dismissal from the throne room, he rushed down the stairs and dove into a nearby pool of water, swimming towards the city's plaza. Hoping that news of something more than mere training or sparring would occur, that perhaps there would be more to his simple Meridian life than previously experienced, like he had heard of in the old stories...

Things were finally beginning for him.

((So this is just my opening thing. If anyone wants a brief idea of their own racial history, just ask me via PM.))

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
((Starting the day with Jungalore. Right now I'd like to mention something. The first quest usually involves learning about the prophecy in story arc one. After all, it's the central belief held by the people. The Slab of Destiny as never been wrong before. However, it's up to interpretation. Every kingdom has their own prophets look at the slab and deliver the interpretation. This modifies the actual meaning by a lot. This is what I mean.

Spoiler: show
Altena Kingdom Interpretation: In the near future, the Manorach El shall rise from the depths and bring prosperity to either the mortals or the dragons. A monarch will rise to take the vacant throne and the hero shall use the Manorach El's power to vanquish the threat posed by the Dragon King.

Elvine Interpretation: In the near future, the Manorach El, dragon of the depths, shall meet the races of mortals and dragons alike and decide between the two which group shall be the dominant inhabitants of Jungalore from that point onward. A monarch will take the throne, and unless the two groups can settle their differences, the dragon of the depths shall spell doom for both.

Meridian Interpretation: In the near future, the Manorach El, child of the dragons, shall rise and bring doom to the mortals. A hero must rise up and defeat the Dragon King, otherwise the throne of Jungalore shall remain empty, and all will be lost.

As you can tell, the interpretations vary, and then every individual has their own belief, plus the dragons believe that due to kinship the Manorach El will side with its own kind. Some even deny that the Slab of Destiny is an accurate source of information, as it has remained silent for centuries, not showing a single image nor word upon its golden surface. With that said, have your own experience as the time winds down to the coming of this dragon.))

The crowd in the main plaza of New Meridia was incredibly busy, moreso than usual. Usually the place was bustling with activity, many of the hunters bringing in sharks to supply food, and people crowding around to get the best of the meat. This case was different, though. Mikkael looked on at the prophets who discussed matters as the crowd slowly began to grow in number. Eventually, one stepped forward as the other two remained at his side, and the words that were spoken hushed everyone. Tarlak Meyaltr, a head prophet, was the one in question who voiced the prophecy over the enthralled crowd.

"My fellow Meridians, we come from the Slab of Destiny to warn you that dark times are coming once more." His eyes gazed over the people with what seemed to be an earnest fear, "You see, my dear people, it has finally spoke, and the news it brings is not good for us. A dragon of the depths, the Manorach El, shall rise in the coming days. Joining forces with Exodiin, it will seek to finish what that false king of our nation had started."

The crowd began to share thoughts among one another with worry as the prophet continued, "Yet there is perhaps one hope. A hero must rise - No! A hero will rise to confront the threat our nation faces! With the help of that hero, the throne of Jungalore shall soon be occupied, and the two dragons which threaten our livelihood shall be slain!"

Once more, the crowd began to speak to each other as Mikkael looked on with a sense of wonder. Perhaps he, for once, could do something other than listen to others lecture, something other than be forced into observance of all things and instead be a hero in his own right. As Tarlak concluded his news, the crowd began to rush to the blacksmith to buy out as many weapons and armor as possible. A war was foreseen by the Meridians, and none of them wanted to die without purpose in it. Yet Mikkael knew he had to finish the task at hand before going on any adventures.

He arrived at the palace one more and told his princess of the news.

"Is that so?" The princess questioned. "Then surely a panic occurred and everyone is preparing for attack."

"This is true, your highness." Mikkael confirmed. The Meridian princess let out a sigh of grief and annoyance.

"Commander, please assemble a troop to help calm the people. We must make it known that the Meridian guard will not back down to the threat of dragons, nor will we take the idea of fear mongering lightly. Let them know that should dragons rise, we will stop them." She ordered. The nearby guard nodded and rushed to a different room as Taltanis continued speaking, "Mikkael, what will you do? I've spoken to your own officers about your credibility and your skill. It seems to me that you're quite bored with this home of ours... Is this true?"

Mikkael thought about her words. After a brief pause he answered, "Honestly, princess, our home gives me no interest. Yes, my home will always be here, but I feel as though I'm wasting my time here when I could be exploring the world for us, doing my own thing and even helping others."

"I see... Does that mean you would like to go beyond our watery home? Or will you remain here? I feel as though I know the answer, but I must still ask."

Mikkael lowered his head for a moment in thought. If he stayed within the city, he would be able to work up a promising career from a mere guardsman to that of a general in only a few years. He would have a steady income, an exclusive house of his own, and would always be able to have a bed to sleep in. However, he wanted more. The life of an adventurer would be far greater, and with more promising rewards. Certainly, he may never settle down anywhere, but he would finally have the chance to see the world. Raising his head, he stated his answer.

"With all due respect, I'd like to see the world, your highness." The Meridian princess smiled at this response and looked to one of the guards.

"You know what this means." She said to the guard who moved toward the armory. She turned her gaze back to the Meridian in front of her, "Very well, I relieve you of all guard duties, and your title of Meridian Guard is herein revoked. That said, you have gained a new title as an adventurer of New Meridia, and with that, a special helmet granted to all adventurers." The guard came back with a steel-blue helmet which Mikkael fit over his head. Comfortable and with enough visibility for the waters he will face.

"Now go." She instructed with a smile, "Also, if you believe you are the hero... come back to us with the heads of both dragons."

Now an official adventurer, Mikkael nodded and ran out of the palace and into the water. It would be a long swim to Cyndar.

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
The vegetation was... off. The change has been subtle at first, but the closer one looked - the stranger it got. The colors seemed all wrong, and things flickered at the corner of vision. The sun was setting, painting a brilliant orange hue across the untainted sky, and the forest was a comforting cacophony of familiar wildlife as they switched to the nightly cycle. Something had happened here in this remote forest and no one was certain exactly what was the cause. Whatever the cause, everyone agreed that it was spreading.

Walking staff in hand, the man in the tattered cloak walked around the farm's edge, enjoying the sights and sounds of the rustic village as the working hours winded to a close. The hunting party had returned from the nearby forest with an unusual catch - a plum-colored creature the size of a cow, with an odd, flat face, walking unsteadily on its rear legs. The hunters were saying that it was quite delicious when roasted, and the workers were eager to try something new to sate the monotony of the regular grain porridge they got.

As the stars appeared in the night sky, Yemhelch wrapped his tattered clothes with some twine as he approached the bonfire. The others had gotten used to his presence and waved. Returning their greetings, he sat at the table and feasted on the chunky soup that was passed around. As the hunters said - it was delicious. He smiled as he noticed some of the villagers slip in the food for seconds later that night and he did the same, slipping the prepared meat to his bindle, which he now kept roped to his garment.

*Added Smoked Meat to inventory!*

Finally, it was time for the monthly pay to be distributed. The workers received their pay from the local assay office, their work judge by hours put in. Finally, Yemhelch collected his pay. "1000 Legends for 5 weeks of work." the assay officer smiled as he handed over a bag of coin. "Thanks for all your hard work!".

Nodding appreciatively, he returned to the bonfire for seconds from the leftovers. That was when someone called him by name.

"Well met, friend!" the young man walks over. Yemhelch greeted the son of the head farmer with a polite nod.

"The Farm master said he was going to apologize for having misgivings about you, when you first came here." he explained. "So, are you going to stay until planting season? We need all the hands we can get!"

"Truth be told, I'd love to see the world beyond this place" Yemhelch replied. "So I want to travel for a bit, learn the ways of the world."

The farm master's son looks crestfallen, but only for a moment. "Well, we're always looking for reliable workers once planting season starts. If you need the extra coin, you're always welcome here."

"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind." Yemhelch replies gratefully. "So, I'm interested in learning the lore of the world. Know any libraries in the area I could visit?"

"Library, eh? The Cyndar Grande Library is one, but that's... actually a ways from here." he explains. "I'd say 4-7 days of travel east southeast."

"That's where I'm going then."

"I see. Just stick to the road and stay aligned to the Serpentarius constellation. When are you leaving?"

"First thing tomorrow morning. After I buy some supplies for the road."

"Very well. Good night, friend."

"Same to you, friend... ah..." Yemhelch paused. He didn't quite get the man's name.

A bemused chuckle. "Name's Alvus"

"Goodnight, friend Alvus."

With that, Yemhelch returned to the worker's camp, grabbed a bedroll, and lay down under the stars, admiring the cosmic view.

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
Night was when the Meridian arrived in the township of Wynd Bay. The currents were in his favour that day, and he made decent progress to the small port town. After his arrival, he walked further and found his way into Cyndar, capital of the Altena Kingdom. It was a grand city with high walls and many homes and shops. A wonderful fountain was in the middle of the city plaza. He checked into the tavern immediately upon his arrival and...

*STARE*

Every person in the room simply stared as Mikkael set foot into the tavern. He could see why immediately. No one was of his race. Only Humans, who hated the Remnvald nation due to the threats of the dragons. Since his kind was from that same nation...

"Can I help you?" The tavern owner asked. Mikkael took a seat and ordered a drink to hopefully get him ready for the coming journeys. The tavern owner kept a close eye, but as the evening went on, he and the other folk occupying the tavern began to get back to their own business.

"So, Meridian." One voice asked, coming from a lightly armored fighter of some sort. "What brings you to the Altena Kingdom?"

Mikkael could see the stares turning back to him, but simply answered, "I've come here in search of adventure. Home is... Well, boring to say the least."

"Is that so? Don't you have dragons to slay?" The fighter questioned further. People smiled at this remark.

"We're always on the case of the dragons, but we're not exactly prepared for an all-out assault... Not yet, at least." Mikkael explained as best possible. He was being honest, New Meridia would not be able to sustain an attack or go on the offensive.

"So shouldn't you go back there? Or did they dismiss you for incompetence?" The fighter states insultingly with a chuckle from some of the other attendants.

"Well, if you want, I can prove my competence." Mikkael challenged the fighter with a wry grin. "Meet you outside."

"Hmph, we'll see..."

The fighter and Mikkael walked outside the tavern and some of the patrons followed. The barkeep simply watched from the window, continuing to serve drinks as asked. Mikkael drew his blade, as did the fighter.

"Let's go." Mikkael initiated.

"You have a choice, fighter, give up now, or try to wound me. In your current state, you'd be better off giving up." Mikkael stated with a smile. The fighter looks up angrily.

"I'll never give up to you monster SCUM! HAVE AT YOU!!!" The Bandit rushed in with his attack. While dealing mild damage, he also coughed up a final bout of blood and fell to the ground. Mikkael sheathed his blade, victorious.

The barkeep finally walked outside.

"What a terrific match! I can't say I've seen anything like it. However, you may have made it worse for yourself, Meridian. People will see you as a killer, despite his move to kill you first."

Mikkael looked down as the barkeeper explained this. The meridian then thought to himself with self-loathing, "I should have known... Damn it..."

"... You know, it's really nothing to worry about that much. In fact, I know just the thing that will help." The barkeep lead Mikkael back inside as the townsfolk lead the guards over to the body and explained what happened.

"See, the Altena Kingdom relies on adventurers. They are the true protection this kingdom needs, not some mere infantry that walk around all day. Sure, they get things done, but it's adventurers with skill that really get things done, and make a name for themselves in the process."

Mikkael silently nodded.

"Over to my left, you'll see a quest board. Pick out some things to do and people will see you as more of a comrade as you complete them." The hefty man motioned his head over to a board with various papers pinned to it. Mikkael looked it over a few times and took a few.

"So these 'dungeon' ones..." He began to speak. The barkeep smiles.

"Ah yes, those are special. You see, all around, there's all sorts of ruins, caves, forests... The works. All of these places seem to be filled with terrible creatures. However, every adventurer can delve into these things we call 'dungeons' once, and as long as they complete one floor and leave, that quest is complete. You can only take them once, and there's 17 in total." The barkeeper explained to the meridian. Mikkael smiled and decided to keep the two he took.

"Oh, and I should mention... If you're ever wounded, return to a tavern like this one. We'll happily serve you to mend those wounds. Free of charge."

The Meridian beamed happily, and since the fighter did get him pretty well he declared, "Excellent. I'd like a room, if that's okay."

It seemed like he finally had an idea as to where he should go first.

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
((There's no update this Sunday. Though, I do have a sort of point I didn't mention. You can only mine a maximum of ten times per floor of a dungeon before having to clear said floor to refresh.))

The two suns rose upon Cyndar and the people began to busy themselves with their work and household duties. The guards still kept their patrol, despite lacking a leader. Mikkael looked out the window at this with some surprise and smiled bemusedly.

"Humans... Weird creatures. They want a ruler, but they function perfectly without one. Yet I suppose this isn't exactly a true anarchy." He thought to himself. Stretching his arms and getting his armor and weapon ready, he picked up his satchel and headed out of the tavern, waving to the barkeep as he did so.

Finally seeing Cyndar for its true glory, he marveled at the castle to the north of town, and the various shops lining the streets. He did notice a few folk staring at him still, but he knew he'd be fine. He took care of the fighter quite well, as to show he had his own skill and constitution, not to mention, he didn't exactly instigate the fight, and it was technically a duel of sorts. Thus, no one could truly fault him. Nonetheless, he left the city.

The Lumen Mines were said to be where most of the iron is mined from. He didn't have the money to buy a pickaxe quite yet, so he'd have to try this at a later time. For now, he would have to see what the mine exactly had in store for him. He noticed that, for a cave, it had little in terms of a true ceiling, just as after a few meters, the mine cart tracks began to disappear. Just in case of attack, he pulled out his rapier... Yet nothing.
"This is supposed to be a dungeon?" He noted under his breath. There continued to be a lack of enemies, and it came to be that drips from the few cliff faces above would startle him due to the sheer silence. Yet still nothing. Then the drips grew in frequency. He knew something was up. That's when he noticed, what he thought was water was really an aqua morpho!

The morpho was very quickly dispatched, yet Mikkael knew it wasn't the end, so he continued deeper through the maze of tunnels, being sure to note where the various ore veins were located. Then, he ran into a group of two people...
"So, you're that Meridian." One remarked, pointing his dagger towards Mikkael.
"Huh? You know of me?"
"Of course, you killed our comrade! We'll give you an offer; Your Legens, or your life."
"Hmmm... How about YOUR Legens and YOUR life?" Mikkael responded with a grin and his sword stretched out in front of him.
"Hmph, you're a fool..."

Bleeding and heaving as they continued, Mikkael fiercely gazed at his opponent before running him through, dispatching of the second bandit. He swiped the 400 Legens they had on them.
"Tch, cheap."
Counting his new total, he smiled at his 1605 Legens. Not a lot, and he'd need more to buy a pickaxe, but nonetheless, he was smiling. Looking around, he knew that he wouldn't be able to clear the first floor. With a shrug, he merely walked out, counting his blessings. He also knew that enemies would refill the areas he had cleared, but there was no more fight left in him, and thus, returned to Cyndar, now at least aware of his limits.

Turning in at the tavern for a bite to eat did him well, and he was happy to know the food was at least free. With a half-assed strategy in mind, he went out to the blacksmith at picked up the cheapest shield they had on sale.

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
The day dawned clear, with the blue sky promising another mild day. Yemhelch was up by sunrise, preparing for his trip to to Cyndar. The small supply shop had already opened as he finished gathering some items.

"Ah, friend Yemhelch." The storekeeper, a short, stocky man by name of Baron greets him as he arrives. "Preparing for the walk to Cyndar, are ye? Well, I recommend..."

Yemhelch buys 10 sticks of smoked meat of the creature slain last night for 100 Legens.
Yemhelch buys 5 loaves of fried hardtack bread for 30 Legens.
Yemhelch buys two waterskins, each with 2 liters capacity for 120 Legens.
Yemhelch buys a pair of wool sandals and socks for 200 Legens.
Yemhelch buys a bag of forest berries and nuts for 50 Legens.
Yemhelch buys a rough rayon rucksack for 300 Legens [20 slots]

Yemhelch pays 800 Legens for the items, leaving him with 260 Legens.

Equipped thus, he packs the rucksack and attaches the bindle to it for the total inventory storage slots of 30. Finally, the waterskins are filled at a nearby tavern - one, a fine ale from last year, and another, fresh brook water, costing him another 100 legens.

Finally, Yemhelch is done, and after a moment to warm up, he heads to the Cyndar/Frenga farm road. He recalls that Cyndar is a week's travel from Frenga, but if he keeps a steady pace, he'll probably make it in 4 days or so. The gate guard informs him that while the road is easy, he should pace himself by camping every 24 hours or so in order to rest and recuperate from walking.

"Dont want you gettin' blisters on ya feet, laddie." he chuckles darkly. "Just look for campers near the crossroads and you'll be fine. Sure, it might be safe, but there's no telling what may happen. Safety in numbers, yes?"

Thanking the guard for his sage advice, Yemhelch sets out.

Day 1.
The walk is uneventful, between the guards that keep the road safe and the open road prevents anyone from setting up a surprise attack - it's highly unlikely to run into any organized banditry around these parts.

The forest slips back to reveal a vast plain - the sandy, loamy ground hinting that it was once a lagoon in a far distant time. The road is clearly marked and well-travelled, and with no shelter save for a few shrubs here and there.

As the day ends, Yemhelch comes across a fork in the road - one leading south east, east - the other sharply turning north. There are some travelers sitting by a camp fire. They seem to be harmless, so he decides to hail them.

"Well met, traveler!" their leader, a man dressed in a bright, starchy coat and a strange, black trio-cornered hat on his head replies. "Unto whence doth ye travel?"

Yemhelch explains that he is walking to Cyndar from Frenga Farms.

"Ayae, Frenga Farms. Fine ale to be had there! We be traveling north ta northwest, to our hometown of Selk, which lies o'er yonder in the Desert, past the Black Forest and the Spine o' the World."

At that moment, a lone man approaches the camp. He is dressed in the garb of a soldier, with fitted plate armor and the insignia of Cyndar is emblazoned on his tunic.

"Halt, you! Camping is against the law of the land!"

Odd. You could have sworn that the gate guard in Frenga told you it was perfectly legal.

Some of the men turn to look at this newcomer as he draws an iron sword from his scabbard.

"You will all pay the fine of 100 legens and break camp immediately!" he barks as he faces Yemhelch. "Or else you will be charged as criminals by the Law of Cyndar!"

"Hmph". Yemhelch shrugs off his rucksack, making to take his money pouch out, and the soldier approaches - that's when he fishes out the bag of pebbles and throws it at the face of the soldier!

He manages to use his free hand to cover his face and the pebble bounces harmlessly off his forearm, but as he swings his sword Yemhelch quickly grabs the sword by the hilt and jams his knee into the gut!

The soldier tries to backhand Yemhelch away, but it is futile! Twisting the hapless soldier's arm, he proceeds to prod the opponent's own sword into his back. A solid kick to his back, and the soldier's blade clatters into the dark of the night as he eats dirt. By then, the rest of the travelers by the campfire joins the fray! The attacker is quickly disarmed and unmasked, taking several heavy punches and kicks.

"Sheora's teeth, it be Voldhalus, the common thief that's been plaguing un hither road!" the leader of the other travelers exclaims. "Quite the bounty on this un's head." he grins.

One of the travelers goes to find a nearby patrol, and after a formal arrest, the group is handed out 7000 legens. Yemhelch decides to divide the bounty to everyone, and takes 1000 legens.

"Ye be a real good fighter, too. Had us completely fooled." the leader of the travelers laughs. "Is the peasant garb a disguise?"

"You could say that."

"Discreet, and strong! Well then, if ye be needin' to do some work for our ships, we pay a fair legen for able-bodied fighters o'er there in Selk. I'm Captain Sailsunder and this be my trusty crew of sea-dogs."

Sea adventure, eh?

"I'll keep that in mind. Thank you."

"Always is good need for fightin' men in Selk. You look up Captain Sailsunder if ye need some legen for yer hard work!"

Yemhelch nods, and decides to take a quick rest with the travelers from Selk as they return to their campfire. They're a motley band, to be sure. What catches Yemhelch's eye is that one of them appears to be a woman with an incredible figure.

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
"So you just left?" A knight in the tavern asked.

"Nothing else I could do as I was." Mikkael responded while scratching his head. "I just suddenly felt like I couldn't muster up enough strength to take out the guy easily."

"You mean Will?"

"Will?" Mikkael asked him as he opened his eyes.

"Don't tell me you haven't heard of Will." The knight chuckled and took a drink. Mikkael heard of it and answered that he had.

"I heard of it back home. Something scholars use to do magic tricks. At least that's how one of my teachers explained it."

"Bah! Of course soldier teachers would say as much. Let me tell you... Will is more than just some energy scholars use."

Mikkael looked at the young man, barely a year younger than he, as if he just told him the sky was purple with green polka dots.

"The way it was described to me was that it's something within all of us. It's our capability of changing the world with our minds and bodies. Course, the guy who told me has long since disappeared, and I... Well, I lost everyone despite truly believing in my Will." Mikkael remained completely silent as this knight explained these things to him. After a pause, the knight continued, "So don't rely on Will alone. Rely on what you can do as a whole, and use your Will when it is deemed necessary."

Mikkael nodded, "Will we meet again?"

The knight only smiled as he left the tavern, his red cape billowing behind his body, encased in silvery armor.

Then Mikkael woke up. The lush grass of the park comfortable against his skin, he simply wanted to lay there and stare at the sky. Sitting up with a groan, he pulled out an apple, taking a bite. It was like the vendor described. A fruit of wisdom, sweet and healthy. Something he didn't believe, but finishing it, he was satisfied with the fruit. Something he had never eaten before.

He decided that he'd help out the guards with a morpho problem to at least become a little respected and not looked at with suspicion. He also picked up a quest regarding rats.

Spoiler: show
((Since morpho are one hit kills for me, I'm just gonna do a drop roll for ten morpho. Generally hunting quests are good to do for ten enemies.))
Image

Among the morpho, he picked up...
Blue Gem x1
50 Legens from Drops
+1 Quest Completion
10 x 10 = 100 Legens as Rewarded

Satisfied, he sold the blue gem, gaining an additional 500 Legens for the sake of purchase. Thus, from a single quest, he gained 650 Legens, bringing him to 1755. He decided to do a repeat, going into the forest region this time, and killed an equal number. It seemed that this area was better, as he found more blue gems.

Spoiler: show
Image
Blue Gem x4
50 Legens from Drops
+1 Quest Completion
10 x 10 = 100 Legens as Rewarded
2000 Legens from Sold Blue Gems
Total Legens Earned: 2150
New Total Legens = 1755 + 2150 = 3905 Legens

Going back in town, he finally decided to buy a pickaxe so he could mine.
Remaining Legens: 1465

((I've been working on the 1.03 update. Expect a job system. I'm working out how it will exactly work, but it's just a simple skill system where you can invest as you please. Holidays will be the time when you can get points, but also through questing. There will be six different job trees. Yom helped with this one so thank him on release. I'm also gonna stop with the puushing of my rolls and will just directly copy+paste them.))

Mikkael took out the last few morpho in his general vicinity. He felt himself getting stronger as he pushed himself more and more.
ROLL: 4 - 6 - 2 - 3 - 5 - 3 - 4 - 6 - 4 - 1
He picked up his money and sold the blue gems as always.
1150 + 1465 = 2615 Legens
+1 Quest Completion

He then notified the keeper of the item shop of how he picked up a quest for a rat infestation.

"Ah, yeah, they've been in the storage room and, quite frankly, are ruining the stock with all the piss and shit." The man grumbled. Mikkael nodded and put his visor down.

"Anything special you want me to do as well?"

"Nah, just get rid of the damn things. I'll make it worth your while."

With that, Mikkael followed the shop keeper into the cellar.

((Any damage taken is minimal and will get healed at the tavern. Otherwise, one hit kills using bash.))

It was an easy affair to say the least.

Mikkael returned upstairs and confirmed that all ten had been vanquished.

"You were successful, excellent, wait one moment." The shopkeeper turns around and grabs a glowing yellow crystal. "Do you know what this is? It's a Crystal of Life. No one knows how it works, but it's supposedly a good luck charm of some kind. Keeps people healthy or something like that."

Mikkael takes the crystal in his hand then places it in his bag.

"I have plenty of them, so if you ever want more, I can always sell some to you." The shopkeeper finished.

"Alright. Thanks."

"Also, you can mine non-purified crystals and refine them into these Crystals of Life or other goods at an alchemy table."

"Huh, sweet. That makes things much easier." Mikkael noted.

With that quest complete, he waved and left the store, grabbing a quick drink at the tavern before setting off for the Lumen Mines once again.

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
((V1.03 Update!))
The cave entrance once again welcomed Mikkael. This time he was prepared. He began work with his pickaxe in hand.

"Job advancement?"

"Yeah, you probably haven't heard of it, but then again not many of us know just how crafting works. As you grow in power, so too does your ability to do work."

"Huh, seems interesting."

"Here, try your hand at mining with this quest before you jump in. Deliver the goods to the blacksmith when you're done. He'll pay well."

ROLL: 93 - 92 - 39 - 27 - 91 - 87 - 85 - 36 - 64 - 34 - 12 - 10

Wiping the sweat from his brown, Mikkael tucked the 14 pieces of iron and 5 pieces of gold into his bag while making his way back to Cyndar. He was impressed at what the manual the miner gave him had to offer. He thought he might have to do work for days to get so much material, but it turned out to be a breeze with what he read. He knew he could still do better though. Yet there was still a job to complete.

"Welcome!" The blacksmith greeted, his giant hammer resting on his shoulder. "Any business inquiries?"

"No sir, but I took up your post. Hopefully these will help." Mikkael heaved the heavy bag up onto the counter. The blacksmith nodded happily.

"Excellent! I was running low. Your pay will be 650 Legens, and again, thank you for your assistance." The man brought out six specially made coins and five others. Six hundreds and five tens. Mikkael, pleased, popped the coins in his bag with a nod. He then looked at the forge and inquired to the smith.

"Hey, how do you use that?"

"The forge? Ah, it's a simple work station. Anyone can handle it. First, we must look at your materials..." Mikkael shared his four iron and five gold with the man who inspected the pieces.

"Well, there is one thing you could make. A gladius. It's a good starting craft I suppose... You'll need to pay 993 Legens though. It's a service fee."

Mikkael fished out his reward with an unimpressed look and some extra to pay the man his service fees before the man finally stated, "Right, let's begin."

Mikkael hammered away at the heated metal. Under the eye of his instructor, he couldn't help but feel like he had done this sort of thing before. It was more like instinct, in fact, but he continued to hammer the metal and shape the pieces needed to complete his build. With instruction he ground the blade's edge to sharpness and inspected his finished work.

"Hmm, not a bad sword. You can sell it back to me if you want your money back, or you could keep it as your first craft. You could even try to market it on your own." The smith chuckled and with a smile added, "Actually, if you keep working at it, you can make things far better than what you see in this here store. People will have an eye for that sort of stuff. If you upgrade it, it adds even more value."

Mikkael gazed into the shining surface of it and stuck it into the scabbard the blacksmith provided.

"I think I'll hold onto it and sell it later." Mikkael tucked the blade into his bag with a smile and nod. "Thanks."

"No problem, come back any time."

Post Re: Chronicles of Jungalore Main RP Thread
Past the bridge, the open land gave way to lush forest - not as thick and varied as the jungle near Lake Forkheads; still, the wildflowers and herbs growing here soothed his mind and the solid trees gave some semblance of cover through the land. Of course, he'd have to exercise more caution. The path was still clear, but monsters and thieves could use the nearby forest for cover.

"Walk the gauntlet" he thought to himself.

At least there were some patrols here, he noted to himself. One of the patrols had helpfully dropped some info about the land. Cyndar was a day's walk away from here. He settled to a more careful pace, and veered into the trees - the cover afforded to him was his natural habitat; the thick underbrush and the vines proved familiar to him as he quietly moved parallel to the dirt path, keeping a sharp eye out for traces of monsters or bandits.

He remembered his mentor's words regarding this.

"Listen, scouting is based on the principles of hunting. There are two fundamentals: awareness and tracking."

"Awareness?"

"Awareness refers to locating a trail by paying careful attention to your surroundings. Tracking means to follow that trail. Your target's trail could be footprints, a branch they broke along the way, bent grass trampled underfoot. You need to feel for clues using all your senses - sound, smell, touch, the direction of the wind. Watch how the animals move. Listen for unusual bird calls. These are signs that someone may be disrupting the environment nearby."

"You sound like a ninja."

"Exactly. Ninja are the ultimate scouts. If your target is a skilled scout, they'll be doing the same thing. You may be the hunter, but you are also the hunted. To avoid being detected, move slowly, little by little. Don't disturb the air around you. Try to make as little noise as possible.

"Listen to your heart. Trust your senses as much as you can."

Settling into a crouch, Yemhelch continues to quietly creep through the underbrush.
